| New LITHOMAN Four-Color Press Is Up and Running in Kendallville | |||
| Good planning has its rewards, and one of them is that the installation of the new large-format, four-color press at Courier Kendallville has gone flawlessly. Joe Brennan, Courier's Vice President of Engineering, is in charge of the project and couldn't be happier with the work that's been done. "It's been a very productive few months," says Joe, "with Courier engineers and plant personnel working closely with the MAN Roland crew to bring this installation in ahead of schedule." Everyone at Courier is thrilled that the press is ready sooner than expected. "Demand is up sharply, and this press comes online just in time," says Peter Conway, Vice President of Sales. "Our customers are asking us to do more and more, and with this new capacity, we are in a great position to take on new work, provide flexible schedules, and meet dates throughout what's shaping up to be a very busy summer season." The target date for completing the installation was April 15, but because the project went so smoothly, the crews were operating the press well ahead of schedule. |

| Right From the Start Tip | |||
Perhaps the most overlooked tool in color management today is the computer monitor. If color is your business, then you should buy the best computer monitor you can afford and keep it calibrated. A good monitor will be capable of displaying excellent color, will have the RGB and other built-in controls you need to calibrate it properly, and, once calibrated, will stay in calibration longer than lower quality models. A good monitor can actually save you money in the long run because you will not need as many proofing cycles to get the color right. Tips of the Month are excerpted from Right from the Start: The book professional’s guide to preparing digital files for print production, Fifth Edition, published by Courier Corporation. |
