Computer-to-Plate Kickoff at Courier Kendallville Courier has inked a deal with industry frontrunner Creo Products to install a thermal computer-to-plate (CTP) imaging system in our Kendallville plant. This technology is flush with benefits including improved registration and print quality, tighter process control and faster throughput. "The #1 priority is quality," said Steve Franzino, Vice President of Technology, "It's about building a better book." Kendallville was chosen for the first installation because of the benefits gained in print quality and process control of four-color work. The new large-format system is capable of imaging any size plate used in the plant, ensuring complete flexibility. Delivery is scheduled for the end of February, with installation and testing to begin in March, and full production slated for early April. Courier will link Kendallville's existing Scitex workflow, including trapping and color and image management, with the new system's automation and superior imaging. This will allow our customers to realize a greater benefit from our already proven and completely digital workflow. The workflow has been in place for two-and-a-half years and includes digital proofing. "We anticipated the technology and ironed out the workflow issues first. As a result, we can guarantee 100% proofing fidelity with CTP right out of the box." says Franzino. "You can't get any more confident than that." EPP - Tip of the Month Trapping can often be a Tints or shades of spot colors and single process colors are fine, but don't apply a tint or shade to four-color process color . For example, if you've composed a red from 100% magenta and 100% yellow, don't make a pink by applying a 50% shade. Instead, create the pink you want from a combination of process colors, and use this at 100%. EPP Tips are from Right from the Start, published by Courier Corporation. The guide is available in PDF form online, or you can request a printed copy through your sales representative or by e-mailing Priscille Georgeou at georgeou@courier.com.
