There's a Lot Going on
at Courier's BookTech Exhibit
We have a lot to show you demonstrations of new and exciting services that make your job easier, and a free poster that celebrates the wondrous effect of books on our lives.
You can now get your job and inventory status 24-7 FastPath Status Check is Courier's web-based service that lets you instantly view your job and paper inventory status 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Key benefits include:
Information is what you need to do your job well, and FastPath Status Check gets information to you when you need it. We will be demonstrating the product in the booth all day, so come by. Courier Recommends Synapse Come see what it can do for you Creating a print-ready PDF file is not as easy as some would lead you to believe. The tools you need are page layout and preflighting software, as well as Adobe Acrobat. Each software package has many settings that all have to be correct for the file to be just right. Compounding the challenge is the fact that the correct settings for a job going to one manufacturer differ from the right settings for the same job going to a different manufacturer. Synapse is a very clever software package from CreoScitex that quickly and automatically sets all the critical settings in all the applications while you make the PDF. At Courier, we use the Synapse Creative Suite to create and maintain "directives" that define all the critical settings and that reflect our particular workflow and equipment. Many of our publishing customers and their compositors have begun to use the less expensive Synapse Prepare to select a Courier "directive" and to prepare print-ready PDFs with just one click according to that "directive". Synapse Prepare also generates a preflight report and brands the PDF file with a stamp of approval. You really have to
see this live to appreciate how it will rid your life of pesky and expensive
file problems. We will be demonstrating the software to all who are interested,
so please check it out. B2B Transactions and You David LaFauci, Courier's Vice-president of Information Technology, has been working with a number of other printers and publishers to develop streamlined transaction management systems that benefit the entire supply chain. Don't miss the chance to hear David and other speak about some of their findings in the BookTech conference session Publisher-Printer: Supply Chain Management, Transaction Management and CRM. Countless transactions are the hallmark and headache of the business. But with a streamlined transaction management system, printers can increase their margins and market share, while remaining competitive on pricing. And publishers can benefit from the savings. Whether publisher or printer, learn how to conceive and implement such a system. The session will be
held Monday, February 11, 2002, 1:15 PM to 2:30 PM. We hope to see you
there! Right From the Start Tip When making corrections on proofs, mark the corrections directly on the proofs and also list them on the proof approval form. Never use sticky notes, as they fall off easily, resulting in missed corrections.
