Overview
How Courier connects to New Relic
New Relic is the observability platform your team already uses to watch application health: metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts in one place.
Courier forwards your notification metrics and logs to New Relic, so you can build dashboards and alerts on delivery health alongside the rest of your stack.
You need a Courier account and a New Relic account with a License key.
Why monitor in New Relic
What you get with New Relic + Courier
Delivery metrics and logs
Courier forwards its notification delivery metrics and logs (sent, delivered, failed, undeliverable, opened, clicked) into New Relic.
Import the Courier dashboard
New Relic offers a prebuilt Courier dashboard as downloadable JSON, so you can monitor delivery health without building a dashboard from scratch.
Alert on failures and bounces
Use New Relic alert conditions to notify your team when failures or undeliverable rates spike, using the same alerting you already trust.
Watch per-channel health
Track delivery health across email, SMS, push, and chat, so a problem on one channel does not hide behind a healthy total.
Correlate with app performance
Sit notification delivery next to request latency, error rates, and deploys, so you can see whether a delivery dip lines up with an app issue.
US or EU endpoints
Send to the default US endpoints, or set your own Metrics and Logs endpoints to keep data in the region you need.

Setup
Connect it in minutes
An admin adds New Relic once in Courier. Metrics stream forward from the moment you connect it, so turn it on before you need the insights.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I monitor my Courier notifications in New Relic?
Yes. Courier forwards its own notification delivery metrics and logs into New Relic, so you can track how your messages are performing inside the same observability platform your team already uses to watch the rest of your stack.
What Courier data shows up in New Relic?
Courier sends its notification delivery metrics and logs. Metrics include counts such as messages received, sent, and undelivered, plus metric and log detail for batch sends. This is Courier's send-side data, not New Relic APM telemetry.
How do I connect Courier to New Relic?
Generate a License key from New Relic's API keys page, then in Courier open Channels, select the New Relic channel, and paste the key into the API Key field. That single credential turns on the forwarding.
Which Courier plan do I need for the New Relic integration?
The New Relic observability integration is available on Courier's Business plan. Once you are on Business, setup takes only a New Relic License key, with no extra configuration required on the New Relic side beyond generating that key.
Can I build a dashboard for Courier data in New Relic?
Yes. Courier publishes a dashboard starter kit, a downloadable JSON you import into New Relic to visualize your Courier notification data fast. From there you can extend it with your own charts and alerts on the forwarded metrics.
Can I control which New Relic region Courier sends data to?
Yes. By default Courier ships to New Relic's US ingest endpoints. If your account lives elsewhere, set custom Metrics Endpoint and Logs Endpoint values in the channel config so metrics and logs land in the right region.
Does Courier send notifications through New Relic?
No. The New Relic integration is one-way monitoring: Courier's metrics and logs flow out to New Relic for visibility only. Your actual notifications still go out through Courier's channels like email, SMS, push, and Courier Inbox.
