Overview
What Hightouch is
Hightouch is a reverse-ETL platform that syncs data straight from your data warehouse to the tools you use, using SQL models and scheduled syncs.
Sync your warehouse data and audiences into Courier, then use them to trigger notifications and kick off multi-step journeys, with no send pipeline to build or maintain.
You need a Courier account and a Hightouch workspace connected to your data warehouse.
Why Courier
What you get with Hightouch + Courier
Sync data straight from your warehouse
Add Courier as a Hightouch destination and sync warehouse columns into Courier profiles and list subscriptions. No consumer or pipeline to build.
Send to warehouse-defined audiences
Model an audience in SQL and sync it to a Courier list, then broadcast to exactly the users your warehouse says qualify.
Keep profiles current
Upsert or update recipient profiles from warehouse data, matched on Courier's Recipient ID, so every send has fresh traits.
Kick off multi-step journeys
Use synced data to start onboarding, drip, and lifecycle sequences in Courier with delays and branching.
Reach every channel
The same data can send email, SMS, push, chat, and an in-app inbox. Add a channel when you need it, no change to your Hightouch syncs.
Localize in seconds
Pick a language and let Courier translate the message with AI, then tweak any string. One template, every market.
How it works
How Hightouch connects to Courier
Courier is a Hightouch destination. In Hightouch you add Courier, paste your Courier Published API token, and name the destination.
You then build a model (a SQL query against your warehouse) and a sync that maps warehouse columns to Courier profile fields and list subscriptions. Syncs run in Upsert or Update mode, matching records on Courier's Recipient ID field.

Setup
Connect it in minutes
Courier is a destination in Hightouch, so there is no pipeline to build. Point a sync at Courier and your warehouse data starts landing in profiles and lists.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Hightouch with Courier?
Yes. Courier is a Hightouch destination, so Hightouch reverse ETL can sync customer data straight from your warehouse into Courier to power notifications. There is no custom pipeline to build.
How do Hightouch events trigger notifications in Courier?
Through syncs, not a live event stream. Hightouch pushes warehouse data into Courier on a schedule, keeping recipient profiles and list membership current. You then target those profiles and audiences with notifications and journeys.
How do I connect Hightouch to Courier?
In Courier, open Settings and go to the API Keys tab to copy your Published token. In Hightouch, add Courier as a destination and paste that token to authenticate the connection.
What can Hightouch sync into Courier?
Two object types: Courier profiles (user attributes and traits) and list subscriptions. You write SQL to select warehouse columns, then map them to profile fields or to list membership for audience targeting.
How does Hightouch match synced rows to Courier recipients?
By Courier's Recipient ID field. Each synced row updates the matching recipient profile, so the user ID in your warehouse model needs to line up with the recipient ID Courier already uses for that person.
What is the difference between Upsert and Update sync modes?
Syncs run in Upsert or Update mode. Upsert creates a Courier recipient when none exists yet and updates it otherwise; Update only changes recipients that already exist, skipping rows Courier has not seen.
Is Courier a replacement for Hightouch?
No. Hightouch moves data out of your warehouse; Courier turns the profiles and audiences it delivers into email, SMS, push, and in-app notifications, plus multi-step journeys. They are complementary.
