Postmark + Courier

Turn Postmark into a multi-channel notification system

Design and automate every message with Courier. Keep Postmark for email delivery, then add SMS, push, and an in-app inbox from one API.

Overview

What Postmark is

Postmark is a transactional email service that sends and manages email through an API, with a focus on fast, reliable delivery.

Courier sits in front of it as one API, a visual editor, journeys, and every other channel, so you keep Postmark for delivery and build multi-channel notifications on top.

You need a Courier account and your own Postmark account with a Server API Token.

Add Postmark as an email provider and paste your Server API Token from the Postmark server's API Tokens page, plus a verified From Address.
2
Design a template
Build your email in Courier's visual editor, or bring over the content from your existing Postmark templates.
3

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Postmark with Courier?

Yes. Postmark is a supported email delivery provider in Courier. Courier sends your transactional email through Postmark while adding template design, Journeys, and channels like SMS, push, and in-app inbox on one API.

Do I still need my own Postmark account?

Yes. Courier delivers through your Postmark account using its Server API Token, so Postmark still handles the actual sending, sender signatures, and your delivery reputation. Courier orchestrates the message and content on top.

What do I need to connect Postmark to Courier?

Two things: your Postmark Server API Token and a verified From address. Enter both on Courier's Postmark integration page and save. Recipients also need an email value on their Courier profile.

Can I set the Postmark message stream or add attachments?

Yes, through Courier provider overrides. Set the MessageStream parameter to target a specific stream, or pass an Attachments array with Name, Content, and ContentType fields to include files per message.

Can I use my existing Postmark templates with Courier?

Yes. Point the config to Postmark's withTemplate endpoint and include TemplateId and TemplateModel. Use the template parameter instead of content so your Courier overrides take precedence over the template.

Why is my Postmark email subject line getting cut off?

This is email client display behavior, not a Postmark limit. Postmark accepts long subject lines, but inboxes like Gmail, Outlook, and mobile clients only show the first 50 to 70 characters. Front-load the important words in your Courier subject line so it still reads well when a client truncates it.

Is Courier a replacement for Postmark?

No. Courier sits in front of Postmark, which still delivers your email. Courier adds the Send API, Journeys, and Design Studio, plus other channels like SMS, push, and Courier Inbox on one integration.
