Overview
What Telnyx is
Telnyx is a communications platform that runs its own carrier network, offering a programmable SMS API and SMS-capable phone numbers for sending text messages worldwide.
Courier sits in front of it as one API, so you keep Telnyx for SMS and add push, an in-app inbox, design, and journeys on top.
You need a Courier account and your own Telnyx account (an API Key and an SMS-capable originating phone number).
Why Courier
What you get with Telnyx + Courier
Add push in the same send
Reach mobile and web with push alongside SMS from one notification, no new integration in your code.
Add an in-app inbox for web and mobile
Give your app an in-product notification center (SDKs for web, React, iOS, Android, Flutter, React Native), so users see more than just texts.
Automate multi-step flows
Trigger reminders, verification, and lifecycle sequences with delays and branching, all delivered through Telnyx.
Write once, edit without code
Compose and localize SMS copy in Courier's editor. Product and support change messaging without a deploy.
Send to lists and audiences
Broadcast a one-off or recurring text to an entire list through Telnyx, alongside your transactional messages.
Localize a message in seconds

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Telnyx with Courier?
Yes. Telnyx is a supported SMS provider in Courier, so you route text messages through your Telnyx number while Courier handles the content, routing, and delivery across email, push, and Courier Inbox too.
Do I still need my own Telnyx account?
Yes. Courier sends through your own Telnyx account using your API key and originating phone number; it does not resell messaging. Your SMS still leaves from your Telnyx number and is billed by Telnyx.
What do I need to connect Telnyx to Courier?
You need two things: your Telnyx API key and an SMS-capable originating phone number. Enter both on the Telnyx integration page in Courier and click Save to start sending.
What phone number format does Telnyx need for the recipient?
Set it on the recipient profile as phone_number in E.164 format, for example +12025550156. Courier passes that value to Telnyx as the SMS destination when it sends the message.
Which number does Telnyx send from?
The originating phone number you configure on the Telnyx integration page. You can override it per message with the from field so a single send uses a different Telnyx number.
Can I override Telnyx settings for a single message?
Yes. Use message.providers.telnyx.override to change the message text, recipient to, API key, or endpoint URL for one send, without touching your saved integration settings.
Is Courier a replacement for Telnyx?
No. Telnyx still delivers the SMS from your number. Courier sits in front, adding the Send API, Design Studio, and Journeys, plus push and Courier Inbox so one integration reaches multiple channels.
