SMSCentral + Courier

Turn SMSCentral SMS into multi-channel notifications

Design and automate every message with Courier. Keep SMSCentral for SMS delivery, then add push and an in-app inbox from one API.

Overview

What SMSCentral is

SMSCentral is an Australian SMS delivery provider with a REST API for sending text messages to customers.

Courier sits in front of it as one API, so you keep SMSCentral for SMS and add push, an in-app inbox, design, and journeys on top.

You need a Courier account and your own SMSCentral account (username and password).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I use SMSCentral with Courier?

Yes. Courier integrates with SMSCentral as an SMS provider, so texts go out through your SMSCentral account while Courier handles the content, routing, and other channels behind one Send API call.

Do I still need my own SMSCentral account?

Yes. Courier does not resell SMS capacity, so you bring your own account from smscentral.com.au. SMSCentral delivers each text and bills you directly, while Courier orchestrates the message and sends it through their gateway.

What do I need to connect SMSCentral to Courier?

Your SMSCentral username and password. On the SMSCentral integration page in Courier, enter both credentials and click Save. Courier authenticates with those alone, so there is no separate API key or sender registration step.

How do I set the sender ID on SMSCentral messages from Courier?

Use the originator field, which SMSCentral shows as the sender. Courier lets you override message, originator, and reference per send, so you can pass a sender name or number plus a tracking reference with each notification.

What phone number format does SMSCentral need in Courier?

Store the recipient's number in the Courier profile's phone_number field. Courier's docs show an international format like +12025550156, so include the country code for SMSCentral to route and deliver the text.

Can I override the SMSCentral username or password per message?

Yes. Alongside the body fields, Courier exposes username and password as config overrides, so one Courier account can route sends through different SMSCentral logins without setting up separate provider integrations.

Is Courier a replacement for SMSCentral?

No. SMSCentral still delivers your SMS. Courier sits in front as one Send API, adding Design Studio, Journeys, plus push, email, and Courier Inbox, so you orchestrate SMSCentral alongside your other channels.
